CPA Transfer

I was curious about the process and the cost of transferring a CPA certificate / license between states. So I checked out the process of moving my certificate from MN to TN. I'm an academic and I don't perform services as a CPA, but I keep my license current.

State of TN Interstate Exchange form $100

1. MN Authorization Form for certifying exam and licensing
2. College and university transcripts
3. CPA Certificate Application to Tennessee with $100 for first year license
   • Experience certification required

Comparison of MN and TN

Annual license renewal	$45 (but 10% surcharge starting in 2010)	$120 (every 2 years)
CPE Required	120 hours every 3 years. 6/30 year-end reporting	80 hours every 2 years. 12/31 reporting.
Ethics specific CPE	8 hours every 3 years	4 hours every 2 years, 1 of which is TN specific
Professional Privilege Tax	$0	$400
