Flash Video Conversion
Conversion of very large video file formats such as AVI to compact formats such as FLV (Flash video) is desirable. There are many options including commercial software and open source tools.

MediaCoder is an open source application as a universal batch media transcoder, which integrates many popular audio/video codecs and tools in one application. A swiss army knife for media transcoding!
FFmpeg is another open source application but is command line driven. As described on their web page: complete solution to record, convert and stream audio and video. Command line interface is very powerful however, it has spawned numerous GUI front-end's to leverage ease of use.

- Super - graphical front end to several command line tools such as FFmpeg. I tested this in Spring 2008 -- seemed ok, but haven't been 100% successful yet with conversions!
