Until you value yourself, you won't value your time. Until you value your time, you will not do anything with it.

Annual credit reports, free that is! Start with

  • Free Annual Credit reports - 1 from each of the 3 national credit reporting agencies. Experian and Equifax seem to be the easiest to obtain. TransUnion requires a userid/pwd and seems to require more steps to get through the process. Equifax has the "prettiest" color coded report online, however the printed report is the longest of the three and generally pretty ugly compared to the online, well designed report.
  • http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/edcams/credit/ycr_free_reports.htm The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) requires each of the nationwide consumer reporting companies — Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion — to provide you with a free copy of your credit report, at your request, once every 12 months.
  • http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/credit/freereports.htm - provides a complete description of facts for consumers, including your rights under FCRA

Real Estate valuation check

  • Zillow - although the WSJ recently ran an article on the up/downside errors inherent in their estimates, the web 2.0 app pulls together a fairly comprehensive look at home values in an area. A quick and easy method to get an idea of home values and recent sales in an area. I wonder when/if realtors will ever begin to provide this type of data - rather than the mysterious, no info available scenarios or hiding everything behind the wall of "give us your email and contact info first". Another example of information wanting to be free!!
